A virtual accelerator that helps young refugees, young migrants and young students to create viable technology venture in Sweden.

Youth Technology Accelerator is a free program of INFOGROUP INTERNATIONAL that provides young innovators, young entrepreneurs, young students, young migrants and young refugees in Sweden the mentorship to take their ideas to market and improve their chances of delivering a commercial and economic impact. The project seeks to create opportunities for young students, young refugees and young migrants between the ages of 18-29 to be active participants in the economic live in Sweden. The program is motivated by the need to develop an entrepreneurial mindset and culture as well as a sense of socioeconomic independence, job creation and self-sufficiency. Through a virtual mentorship; the program provides young innovators, young entrepreneurs, young students, young migrants and young refugees in Sweden benefits like information on seed funding, mentorship, workshops, collaboration and access to investors. They receive through the program a variety of valuable perks, which can help them build a startup on a lean budget. our team provide them with guidance, help with incorporation and funding documents. They receive Skype mentorship from successful entrepreneurs, experienced investors, industry experts, and connectors selected by Youth Technology Accelerator who help them strategize, prioritize, and expand their networks. Youth Technology Accelerator’s mentors have a wealth of experience and large networks that they share to help young people to succeed. They represent a wide range of industry experience and they have built successful companies and are thought leaders in creating economic, commercial and sustainable impact. Mentorship includes creation of business plan, business pitch, business model generation, customer development, leveraging human capital, lean UX, fundraising, financial modelling, etc:.

The project promotes job creation among young students, young refugees, young migrants and young people through 4 months integrated and participative mentorship program designed to develop their entrepreneurial skills and ventures. By getting them acquainted with all the stages of starting up a new business, from the concept to necessary skills, preparing them for a future career as entrepreneurs, as founders of new businesses. Our organization has accumulated years of experience in both project and team management, by always being actively involved in helping young people to design, planning, implementation and evaluation phase of their ventures. Young people get unprecedent opportunity and necessary entrepreneurship skills that are very helpful to their future career.

The project helps 20 young refugees, young students and young migrants to create successfull and viable business, after 4 months participating in the mentorship program: - 4 young students create a green technology venture that employs 20 people to day and raise 200.000 € from angels and VC. - A team of 6 young innovators creates Mydoctor project and has pitch to Cisco Executive their innovation during Cisco - Iprize global competition 2010. They raise $ 100.000 USD from various business angels and venture capitalist to turn their idea to a new technology company. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iEg26WRfMl0 - Participants in Youth Technology Accelerator creates Mobile Agribusiness win the a world class mentorship at Unreasonable Institute ( a world class social entreprise accelerator) in 2012 in the United States of America and raise $ 150.000 USD from business angels and Venture capitalists to scale their company. - 3 students created their own green tech company (Energify) with 5 employees after receiving our training program. - 2 participants creates a media company with 2 employees and has been selected a finalist of Japan Prize 2011

The weakness of the program is that at this stage we are working only with students, young refugees, young migrants and young innovators and other people that have excellent technologies ideas that can be turned into viable business, especially in mobile technologies, green technologies and IT related innovation fields. Secondly, our financial resource is very limited and reduces our ability to select many young people to participate in our program.
Progetti per il futuro e aspettative (max. 750 caratteri): 
We need to create the possibility to work with all young refugees, young migrants, young students and other young people including for instance: Former child soldiers and other young without innovative ideas that live in Sweden. So that we can create a sustainable model that will be benefit to all other young people. We plan to creat strong relationships with relevant local stakeholders as it is very important, as it helps to facilitate development of local appropriate solutions. This will in turn generate in new opportunities to reach out and expand, including community driven sponsorship, loans and grants.

USING ICT TO INSPIRE AND EMPOWER RURAL CHILDREN
Riassunto del progetto (max. 2000 caratteri): 
The main aim of the project is to make innovative use of technology (which has been the preserve of city dwellers) available to rural students at the Junior High School level at no cost to the students. We achieve this by collaborating with stakeholders (Ghana Education Service(GES), Members of Parliament, District Assemblies and Chiefs) to adequately empower students to discover and develop their potential, live productive lives and free themselves from the shackles of poverty (and indiscriminate sex) that has engulfed their community and write and pass the Basic education Certificate Examination (BECE) and obtain grades better than aggregate twenty (20). We set up electronic learning centre in the villages and furnish it with 10 computers, a multimedia projector and screen and a 5.5 hp petrol generator with electronic materials based on the GES approved syllabus. We deploy innovative technology-based strategies to teach (Mathematics, English, Science, ICT) and provide the students the opportunity to study at their own pace. We normally use one(1) day in a week for every project site whiles the regular teachers use four(4) days for instruction. The project’s impact has been enormous. In 2006, 2007, 2009 and 2012, we carried out studies in the Ashanti Region, Central Region, Greater Accra Region, Eastern Region and Central Region of the Republic of Ghana to investigate the impact of this technology use. In one such study, it was discovered that three (3) out of every five (5) students opted for school instead of going to the farm or sea shore because of the innovative way they used to study. At Agona Duakwa District Assembly JHS, where we just ended one such pilot program, we discovered that this intervention has raised the confidence level of the students and inspired them. Out of a class of thirty-three (33) students, eighteen (18) students who were not very regular at school changed their truancy attitude and become committed to the classes. On an academic achievement scale of 1 to 10, 30% of the students moved from 5 to 9, 20% moved from 2 to 6, 40% moved from 2 to 5 in just four months. Our project is an example of outstanding educational practice in transforming education because it affords students the rear opportunity to explore and study at their own pace. The project inculcate in students the desire to fish for themselves and become life-long learners. It does not only fill the minds of students with theoretical facts but it also develops them.

GHANA’S DEVELOPMENTAL STRIDES IN ALL SECTORS OF THE ECONOMY ARE HIGHLY CONCENTRATED IN THE CITIES OR URBAN CENTERS. SCHOOLS IN CITIES ARE WELL RESOURCED WITH MODERN TEACHING AND LEARNING AIDS AND QUALITY TEACHERS. IN THE RURAL AREAS (VILLAGES), THE OPPOSITE IS EVIDENT. TRAINED TEACHERS REFUSE POSTINGS TO VILLAGES. EVEN THE FEW WHO RELUCTANTLY ACCEPT POSTINGS TO THE VILLAGES STAY AT THE NEAREST TOWN AND ATTEND TO THE “VILLAGE” STUDENTS WHEN THEY FEEL LIKE DOING SO. THIS PROJECT IS BRIDGING THE GAP. ONE INFORMED RESOURCE PERSON IS DOING THE WORK OF MORE THAN 6 "TRADITIONAL" TEACHERS. THROUGH THIS PROJECT STUDENTS DEVELOP THEIR CREATIVITY, DEVELOP THE SPIRIT OF PATRIOTISM AND MINIMIZE THE INCIDENT OF DRUG ADDICTION AND INDISCRIMINATE SEX WHICH OFTEN LEADS TO TEENAGE PREGNANCY. WE ARE GETTING MORE VILLAGE CHILDREN TO PURSUE EDUCATION, REFORM THEIR CHARACTER AND HELP DEVELOP THEIR COMMUNITIES. ONCE MORE VILLAGE CHILDREN GET EDUCATED, SOCIAL VICES REDUCE AND THE SOCIETY DEVELOPS.

THE PROJECT’S IMPACT HAS BEEN ENORMOUS. IN 2006, 2007, 2009 AND 2012, WE CARRIED OUT STUDIES IN THE ASHANTI REGION, CENTRAL REGION, GREATER ACCRA REGION, EASTERN REGION AND CENTRAL REGION OF THE REPUBLIC OF GHANA TO INVESTIGATE THE IMPACT OF THIS TECHNOLOGY USE. IN ONE SUCH STUDY, IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THREE (3) OUT OF EVERY FIVE (5) STUDENTS OPTED FOR SCHOOL INSTEAD OF GOING TO THE FARM OR SEA SHORE BECAUSE OF THE INNOVATIVE WAY THEY USED TO STUDY. AT AGONA DUAKWA DISTRICT ASSEMBLY JHS, WHERE WE JUST ENDED ONE SUCH PILOT PROGRAM, WE DISCOVERED THAT THIS INTERVENTION HAS RAISED THE CONFIDENCE LEVEL OF THE STUDENTS AND INSPIRED THEM. OUR PROJECT IS AN EXAMPLE OF OUTSTANDING EDUCATIONAL PACTICE IN TRANSFORMING EDUCATION BECAUSE IT AFFORDS STUDENTS THE REAR OPPORTUNITY TO EXPLORE AND STUDY AT THEIR OWN PACE. THE PROJECT INCULCATE IN STUDENTS THE DESIRE TO FISH FOR THEMSELVES AND BECOME LIFE-LONG LEARNERS. IT DOES NOT ONLY FILL THE MINDS OF STUDENTS WITH THEORETICAL FACTS BUT IT ALSO DEVELOPES THEM. WE SET UP ELECTRONIC LEARNING CENTRE IN THE SELECTED VILLAGE AND FURNISH IT WITH 10 COMPUTERS, A MULTIMEDIA PROJECTOR AND SCREEN AND A 5.5 HP PETROL GENERATOR WITH ELECTRONIC MATERIALS BASED ON THE GES APPROVED SYLLABUS. THE PROJECT HAS A HIGH REPLICATION POTENTIAL. WE BEGUN THE PROJECT WITH SELECTED PRIVATE SCHOOLS WHO COULD AFFORD IT. NOW OUR FOCUS IS ON RURAL CHILDREN. THE GHANA EDUCATION SERVICE (HEADQUARTERS) HAS COLLABORATED WITH US TO EXPAND OUR PROJECT TO THREE DISTRICTS IN THE CENTRAL REGION OF GHANA. THE PLAN IS TO RUN MULTIPLE ELECTRONIC CENTERS FOR CLUSTER OF SCHOOLS TO USE IN RURAL AREAS AFTER THIS PHASE. THROUGH THIS COLLABORATION, WE SHALL TRAIN SELECTED GES STAFF (TEACHERS ON THE FIELD) AND MAKE THEM ZONAL, CIRCUIT AND DISTRICT COORDINATORS TO OVERSEER THE OPERATION OF THE CENTERS. THIS COULD BE EXPANDED EASILY TO REACH ALL RURAL REGIONS IN GHANA SINCE THE GES IS ALREADY MANAGING THE PUBLIC SCHOOLS IN THE WHOLE COUNTRY. WE WISH THAT WE WILL GET FUNDING TO EXPAND THIS PROJECT TO IMPROVE RURAL EDUCATION IN GHANA
