The Art Miles Mural Project consists of twelve one mile long acrylic painted murals on canvas, we use internet for comunicate.

The Art Miles Mural Project consists of twelve one mile long acrylic painted murals on canvas involving twelve distinct themes"”The Multicultural Diversity Mile, The Environmental Mile, Sports, Music, Women, Senior, Celebrity, Fairy Tale, Peace, Unity and Healing, Mentor, and The Indigenous Peoples Mile. Each of these murals is twelve foot (12') long by five foot (5') wide. There are 440 canvasses per mile and a total of 5,280 murals will be joined together in 2010. The Art Miles Mural Project forms collaborations with numerous organizations, groups, conference support organizations, hospitals, foundations, and educational and cultural entities within different countries. One of these organizations is the International Education and Resource Network (iEARN)(www.iearn.org) and Art Miles is one of their 85 collaborative art projects.

What are the specific objectives of the project and what are the instruments used to achieve them?: 
The objective of the project is to create global harmony through art, one mural at a time, one mile at a time. Therefore it is the PROCESS that is emphasized in the creation of what has turned into a monumental global endeavor. The collaborative project has ignited spontaneity and freedom of expression by bringing individuals or groups together where not only creating murals has resulted, but also friendships established, and understanding, cultural awareness, respect, and simply having fun have been realized as sustainable benefits. The project has gained a formidable reputation in its ability to foster community development, literacy, and positive activities for people of all ages and locations.

Describe the results achieved by your project How do you measure (parameters) these. (max. 2000 characters): 
More than 40,000 people from 100+countries, including those with disabilities and special needs, have completed over 1,300 murals. A large emphasis is placed on encouraging children to paint murals and the project is officially recognized as a vital contribution of arts in support of the UNESCO Decade for the Culture of Peace and Non Violence Among Children of the World, the UN Millennium Development Goals, and the Convention for the Rights of the Children.

The Art Miles Mural Project has been featured in scores of local, state, national and international media, a variety of television programs and has been a subject of video films and documentaries, and as a special feature in the International Children's Art Foundation (ICAF) Child Art Magazine. Many of the murals have also been showcased in a variety of exhibitions, galleries, museums, and public buildings, including the American Museum of Natural History and at Ground Zero in New York City. This project, based on it's overwhelming popularity, has also become the premiere activity for major conferences ranging from the International Children's Environmental Health Conference in Washington, DC, National Network for Youth Conferences, and the United Nations Environment Program International Children's Conference on the Environment.

Murales per la Pace internet e arte per la solidarietà .Piu' di 40.000 persone di oltre 100 nazioni hanno realizzato i 1300 murales attuali ed il progetto proseguira' fino al 2010.
Project Summary (max. 2000 characters): 
L'idea di base è che si possono promuovere progetti di pace tra ragazzi di tutto il mondo e far comprendere che si puo' lavorare insieme su progetti , partendo da semplici disegni realizzati in piccoli gruppi e condivisi con gli altri. Utilizzando internet e le nuove tecnologie. Il progetto è articolato con scambi cooperativi programmati via internet , tra varie nazioni , tra cui America, Giappone, Italia, Canada. Altre reti internazionali opereranno per coinvolgere le oltre 100 nazioni partecipanti. Ad oggi circa 8 miglia delle 12 previste sono già  state realizzate. Per l'Italia abbiamo il coordinamento del miglio dei murales delle Favole e grazie al lavoro fatto in questi anni , è stata scelta Narni come centro di raccolta dei murales inerenti le fiabe , grazie anche alla grande diffusione delle favole di Narnia ed al lavoro fatto finora per legare il mondo fantastico di Narnia alla città  di Narni. Il progetto si sviluppa comunque a livello mondiale come strumento interculturale.

Quali sono gli obiettivi del vostro progetto e in quale contesto si svolge: L'idea è partita nel 1997 in Bosnia con 350 studenti che hanno iniziato a dipingere per sfuggire agli orrori della guerra civile. Il progetto sotto la direzione di Mrs. Joanne Tawfilis è poi progredito negli anni ed attualmente in California sono archiviati oltre 900 murales diversi, degli oltre 1300 murales già  realizzati. L'obiettivi sono molteplici , infatti oltre a far lavorare insieme progettando cose concrete, i ragazzi vedono internet come strumento attivo di lavoro e di condivisione , conoscendo altri amici in internet e condividendo con loro un percorso che di solito dura un anno scolastico , in cui si ha modo non solo di realizzare un murales su tela, ma di conoscere altre culture ed utilizzare strumenti internet come videoconferenze e BBS oltre a posta elettronica e la lingua inglese. Come, e con quali mezzi cerca di raggiungere gli obiettivi prefissati: Utilizzando massicciamente internet in modo creativo e condividendo progetti ed esperienze vedere anche http://www.narnia.it/muralnipon.htm in questo caso si tratta di un lavoro tra scuole giapponesi e scuole di tutto il mondo tra cui scuole italiane. Ad oggi, quali sono i risultati raggiunti dal vostro progetto: Piu' di 40.000 persone di oltre 100 nazioni hanno realizzato i 1300 murales attuali ed il progetto proseguira' fino al 2010. Il progetto è riconosciuto da molte organizzazioni internazionali tra cui l'UNESCO, e copre gia' circa 11 miglia (circa 18 chilometri) di lunghezza e coprono molti argomenti tra cui La Diversità  Multiculturale , L'ambiente,Lo Sports,La Musica,Le Donne, Le persone anziane,Le Celebrità ,il mondo delle favole,la Pace, La salute, Le guide spirituali,ed i popoli Indigeni. Come detto ogni murale è lungo (12')piedi e alto (5') piedi, quindi ci sono 440 murales per miglio ed un totale di 5,280 murales sono previsti per il 2010. I murales sono stati realizzati dal Bangladesh alle Seychelles, Europa, America Latina, Asia, e Australia. Bambini senza mani li hanno completati con i piedi, bambini cechi hanno dipinto ascoltando la musica, i ragazzi di strada Peruviani hanno dipinto a lume di candela. Insegnanti in vacanza sono andati in Himalaya per seguire bambini in Nepal e Mongolia. Scuole, chiese, ragazzi e ragazze a rischio, disadattati e senza casa, organizzazioni multiculturali gruppi ambientalisti sono tra le organizzazioni che hanno ospitato gli happenings dei murales .

Come detto i numeri sono altissimi si parla di mezzo milione di partecipanti che alla fine avranno partecipato, e Piu' di 40.000 persone di oltre 100 nazioni hanno realizzato i 1300 murales. Ogni mese decine di nuovi murales vengono prodotti ed ogni murales coinvolge centinaia di persone di tutto il mondo. Inoltre grazie ad internet c'e' una rete umana di persone che viene aggiornata sugli sviluppi delle varie iniziative locali.

Future plans and wish list (max. 750 characters): 
lavorare con Giappone e altri stati per realizzare una grande copia dei dipinti tale da coprire tale struttura mobile , che potrà  essere poi esposta in varie parti del mondo. Parallelamente le immagini dei murales potranno essere riprodotte con grandi proiettori su qualunque parete ed essere riproposte in moltissime parti del mondo . Divenendo un progetto per promuovere la pace attraverso l'arte. Il progetto è supportato da : International Decade for a Culture of Peace ( by UNESCO) UNESCO National Commission to Egypt Inoltre per la realizzazione della piramide mobile , verrà  anche studiata l'opportunità  di utilizzare l'interno della stessa , ricreando 12 gallerie , una per ogni argomento dei lavori creati. In tali gallerie oltre alla presentazione dei murales , verranno ricreati ologrammi e figure tridimensionali a partire dai lavori fatti oltre ad avere un adeguato sottofondo musicale.
