Jury members

The members of the GJC jury reflect the various sectors in which new technologies are employed in the fields of education and training.  
The jury will be divided into work groups of no less than 3 jurors. Each work group will have a coordinator to direct evaluation activities and act as a point of reference with internal resources and the other members of the jury.
 

Evaluation Criteria - General Criteria

Eligible projects will be judged in terms of their innovative use of new technology and contribution to the development of youth education. Judges will identify the most innovative and “inspired” projects, adopting efficient approaches to diffuse new technologies for the benefit of the new generations. Evaluation will always take into consideration all relevant local economic, social, educational and environmental factors; projects will be assessed in terms of their context and educational, as well as technological, contribution.

The Jury will look for projects that:

  • Develop the use of new technologies by young people
  • Improve the quality, the use and the efficiency of education through the use of new technologies, both inside and outside the classroom
  • Enhance quality of life and provide new opportunities to young people
  • Reduce the gap between supply and demand on the job market by introducing new training and recruitment methods
  • Contribute to equal opportunities
  • Improve access for disadvantaged youth living in rural areas or those suffering from disabilities
  • Improve international communication and co-operation between young people
  • Ensure equal access to all youth worldwide including technologically underdeveloped areas
  • Generate inspiration, motivation and concrete results
  • Technological superiority per se is not determinant. Projects will be evaluated overall.
 

Evaluation Criteria - Specific Criteria

The Jurors will be asked to assign a minimum of 1 to a maximum of 10 points for each of the following areas:
 

Innovation

Jury members will be called upon to evaluate the innovative qualities of each project in terms of its social context of reference. This does not only regard the technological aspects.
The Jury will examine if:
  • the project is innovative – does it employ new technologies to obtain its objectives?
  • How innovative is the project idea?
  • Is the project innovative in the way it involves its stakeholders? Is it a success?
  • Are the project results innovative?
  • Does the project innovate by employing new technologies in areas that do not normally feature these technologies?
 

Users

The jury members will be called upon to assess if the projects meets the needs of users.
The Jury will examine if:
 
  • The project is truly useful to its beneficiaries?
  • To what extent does it satisfy user needs?
  • Is the project easily accessible by users?
  • How does the project guarantee new opportunities and a better education for its users?
 

Impact on Education

The jury members will be called upon to assess the impact of the project on education, inside and outside of schools.
The Jury will examine if:
 
  • the project provides new opportunities for the education and training of youth? What are the benefits (quantitatively and qualitatively)?
  • Does the project improve the participation of youth and other key actors in the education sector? To what extent?
  • Does the project stimulate the use of new technologies for educational and cultural development by professionals and youth? If so, to what extent?
  • Does the project contribute to change the way in which children, young people and other educational stakeholders interact with the didactics, knowledge and learning activities presented by the project? To what extent?
 
 

Adaptability

The jury members will be called upon to assess to what extent the project will create new opportunities in other fields.
The Jury will examine:
 
  • What potential the project has for replication elsewhere?
  • Does the project provide a basis for further development and adaptation to other circumstances?
  • What can users learn from this project?
  • Will the project stimulate and in spire other projects?
  • What actions have the participants undertaken to transfer/share their project with others?
