In our eTwinning project ,,Different but equal "  Students with Special Needs Education  helped and coordinated by teacher DUMA CORNEL LUCIAN , education counselor  in  Scoala Speciala Caransebes made this website using with creativity and innovaton media (YOUTUBE ,Twit Vid  ,vodpod,VIMEO ,Dvolver  ) , and also
tehnology (TWITTER ,Raptivity  ,Linkedin )Web 2. 0 (Flickr delicious , digg , FacebookTechnoratiBebo , MASHABLE ,My Space . For a good collaboration  we use in this project many widgets and also many webtools like :Animoto for education , author STREAM , SmileboxPhoto Peachslide , Slide share , Picture trail ,esnipes,Motionbox Fliggo ,SlideBoom,dvolver ,Rock You ,authorSTREAM,authorPOINT'SFLASH,
 Because we have more than 150 presentation in our project we give the link to all  presentation posted in TWIN SPACE by students and teachers involved in our project,and we poston website only videos and photos .

 Our targhets was :
- to be aware of the support group of friends;
 • to establish an out, tolerant, civilized;
• to acquire feelings of understanding, respect for all people regardless of social position, ethnicity, language, religious orientation.

• identifying and developing artistic skills to children with special educational needs

 

What does it try to achieve and how: 

- Working in partenership and collaboration  with other children all over Europe,
- Learning together and from each other about  our country , our town , our scholl , our students and our activities
- Learning how they can use students with Special Needs Education new tehnologies , and discover  new ICT  tools and widjets .
- Students made paintings and drawings through they show their creativity and innovation .

Which opportunities/problems does it address to: 

 

- a greater involvement of society in helping children with Special Needs Education .
- a easier integration in higher mass for students with Special Needs Education

- a collaboration bettwen students from normal scholls and children with Special Needs Education hwo collaborate in educational projects , although are different ,they are still   equal

Our project is under European Year for Creativity and Innovation and for this reason in 7 april Scoala Speciala Caransebes organize in this eTwinning project ,, International Symposium Creativity and Innovation in Special Education , Project Different , but equal , first edition and we have 350 participants from all Romania at our 3 sections :
-          Section I – scientific communications
-          Section II – POWER POINT PRESENTATIONS with activities made by Students with Special Needs Education . At this section participated our parteners from the project ,, Different , but equal “
-          Section III – Internatinal contest ,, Resurrection of Son of God and the Renaissance of whole humanity “

10. Results
Describe the results of your project as per today: 

 

Most important result for our eTwinning project is our website made by Scoala Speciala Caransebes http://differentbutequaletwinning.webs.com/ . Here we post all the materials from twin space http://twinspace.etwinning.net/launcher.cfm?lang=en&ca=differentbutequal .
All the 50 POWER POINT PRESENTATIONS  at section II was present here  in slideshare http://www.slideshare.net/LUCIANDUMA/slideshows
In section III after Internatinal contest ,, Resurrection of Son of God and the Renaissance of whole humanity “ we organize at art gallery ,, Ilie Baba “ from Caransebes vernissage of the international exhibition . http://www.eurocreator.com/watch?vid=421
All the students with Special Needs Education involved in this project was very excited by the collaboration and partenership with other students from European Union.
 
 
 

 

How does it fulfill the users’ needs: 

The whole eTwinning project ,, Different , but equal “ was adapted to students with Special Needs Education and our students show their creativity and learned about innovation through ict .

How many users interact with your project per month and what are the preferred forms of interaction: 

In eTwinning project ,, Different , but equal “ were involved  14 COUNTRIES  - 26 PARTENERS and more than 500 students with Special Needs Education  . We use frequently TWIN SPACE , but also we use (TWITTER , Facebook ,Linkedin )

How has it improved the quality of educational and/or training services: 

We want to show through this project that students with Special Needs Education can made beautiful things ( paintings and drawings through they show their creativity ) and using ict they learn about innovation . 

How has it improved the participation of professionals, children, youth and other stakeholders: 

In 7 april when Scoala Speciala Caransebes organize international symposium ,, Creativity and Innovation in Special Educatiom , project ,, Different but equal “ we present the website of our project and we invite normal children , professionals and other people to show that our students with Special Needs Education can make beautiful things if we will help and support .

How does it promote the use of ICT for the educational and cultural development by professionals, children and youth:

Background: 

 

My name is teacher Duma Cornel Lucian and I am education counselor in Scoala Speciala Caransebes and I begin like coordinator   educational county project,, Diferiti , dar egali “ in september 2007 derulated in partenerhip with more institution from our town Caransebes :ISJ. Caras-Severin , C.C.D. Caras-Severin , Episcopia Caransebes , Asociatia Femeilor Ortodoxe Caransebes , Liceul Teoretic ,, Traian Doda “Caransebes .

I want to show everybody through this project that my students although they are different , they can make beautiful things and they are still  equal.

 

Barriers: 

Because we are now in crisis we can’t obtain many founds for our project to take place in the best conditions but with all  these problems I had  tried to make them front and I help my students with Special Needs Education

Solutions: 

 

I had some barriers but with all the problems I organize in 7 april international symposium ,, Creativity and Innovation in Special Education , project Different ,but equal “ first edition and was a big event with 350 participants and it has been developed in the best conditions
 

 

Future plans and wish list: 

 

I plan  to establish a club for creative arts and suggestively entitled "Small artisan “ in Scoala Speciala Caransebes . The club will include three creative workshops, each workshop special attention. Thus, the club will run the workshop drawing, collage and painting, folk art workshop / art studio confection of dolls / puppets.
Areas of work covered by the club and the creative arts have been carefully selected and they cover all areas of interest of our students.

I want with my parteners to transform our eTwinning project ,, Different , but equal “ in COMENIUS MULTILATERAL PROJECT on art and ict for special needs  in next school year .

My very special wondertree

"My very special wondertree" is an eTwinning Project between very special schools in Europe (Germany, Netherlands, Greece, Portugal, Poland, England, Scotland, Belgium, Estonia and Austria).

Summary: 

This is our third eTwinning-Project together and the main aim of every project was to bring Europe in our very special classes and let our children with special needs learn about it with all senses.
"My very special wondertree" was another step to reach this aims, in addition the children learned to handle new skills (picture editing programms).
It was great to see the high motivation of the children, their enthusiasm about the success.

9. Targets and Elements of Innovation
Please explain the targets and the background of your project: 

For our project we wanted to connect an ecological issue with ICT - and this all of course prepared for the special needs of our students. As most project - partners know each other yet because of the two former eTwinning-projects (see www.specialchildren.wikispaces.com) the children knew already many things about the countries of their partners. So we decided to work on a special issue - our special tree. Every school made school-projects, where the tree (and sometimes also other trees) have been treated in every possible way and of course with all senses (informations about the different activities are on the project website).
Then we prepared informations about our trees for all other partners and put them on the website.
The next activity has been to learn to handle picture editing programs (paint, photoshop...) and then the children created their very, very special wondertrees for the artgallery on the website. Their creativity has been boundless.
The third step was to send seeds of our trees to each other and now we all try to grow up our little European Woods.

What does it try to achieve and how: 

- Working together with other children all over Europe, connected with the possibilities of ICT
- Learning together and from each other about one issue
- Learning new ICT - skills
- Creative working, presenting artworks - strenghen everones self-esteem!
- New inputs for intern school projects in every school

Which opportunities/problems does it address to: 

- integration of children with special needs
- to show, what they can do, if they are motivated!!!
- new ways of special education
- success brings self-esteem!

- We dare to our special children also to use ICT, to learn about Europe - and the project allows them to do this in their own way.

10. Results
Describe the results of your project as per today: 

- Many beautiful new experiences together
- Great contacts between the partner institutions
- Great motivation of the children to communicate with their partners, to learn about them and to show them, what they do.
- A beautiful website, the children love it!
- Many beautiful artworks made from photos from our trees
- Little European Woods growing up (hopefully :-))

How does it fulfill the users’ needs: 

- The whole project is adapted to the special needs of our children
- It supports and strenghens their experiences, their creativity and their self-esteem

How many users interact with your project per month and what are the preferred forms of interaction: 

- 11 special schools in Europe
- 11 special teachers connected by ICT-Tools (eTwinning-Portal, website, mail, chat...)
- About 70 students with special needs directly involved, many others are involved too because of the projects in the different schools - interacting mainly with pictures and exchange of their artworks, letters with seeds....

How has it improved the quality of educational and/or training services: 

The project demonstrated that it is possible also for children with very special needs to
- work in an European Dimension
- to handle ICT

How has it improved the participation of professionals, children, youth and other stakeholders: 

- high motivation of the children, but also the involved teachers
- new ways of learning, new ICT-skills

How does it promote the use of ICT for the educational and cultural development by professionals, children and youth: 

It shows the possibilties of using ICT in a very creative and individual way.

Describe how you measure (parameters) these results: 

The best parameter is to see the children's enthusiasm while they are working in the different activities of the project!
Their knowledge about the issue (Trees) and about Europe has grown.
A little story for example:
I told my students, that I will take part on a study visit and travel to Finland. One child looked at me and said: "But we don't know anyone in Finland!" ( Because we don't have a partner institution there)
That's a great effort for a child that cannot read, write or count!
