| Cameroon has been left behind for many years in the field of Information and Communication Technologies. Many students find it difficult to study using due to the shortage or absence of computers in schools and also on how to gain employment after school because they lack skills in computer that is required by most employers. This project helps bridge the digital divide by providing computers to schools and connecting them to the Internet and then training students to acquire useful skills. |

| Sommario del progetto: | |
| This project gets into both rural and urban areas and creates multimedia centres in schools throughout Cameroon, to educate students and help them acquire useful skills that will enable them gain employment after studies and also to facilitate their studies. These centres are all connected to the internet through a VSAT or wireless system. Schools around the country are invited to apply for the project. After screening, the schools that are successful, sign a contract with ADCOME and then ADCOME rehabilitates a hall provided by the schools ensuring the hall is well secured to avoid theft and damage of equipments. Technicians are sent to cable the labs and connect the computers in a network. Thereafter, a VSAT is used to connect the schools to the internet or in some cases, these schools are connected using a wireless system. A computer engineer is hired and after an induction course, is sent to train students in schools and to maintain the equipments. Regular reports are given to the project coordinator by the teachers and the coordinator compiles reports and submits to other stakeholders. Evaluation of the project is done by ADCOME, the school and other stakeholders to improve performance and quality. ADCOME through this project impacts over 30,000 students in Cameroon and provides employment to over 30 young Cameroonian graduates. |

Students can search more information on the internet -Creates opportunity for students to communicate and share ideas with other students in other countries |

| -Our project gets into the rural areas that are often neglected by the government and other social entrepreneurs because of the poor road conditions. Many villages are remote and lack social amenities. There is great rural exodus. The presence of this project helps reduce rural exodus and the desire of most young people to find greener pastures out of their country. |

| -We have been able to create about 20 multimedia centres in Cameroon since 2002 and due to the success, with other stakeholders, we hope to create at least ten (10) labs each year for the next five(5) years. - We have been able to impact over 30,000 students positively and re-orientate them. -we have been able to connect remote areas to the internet. A dream come true. This will normally have been realised after ten years. -We have reduced the rate of unemployment through provision of employment to recent young graduates. |

| In 2002 after having facilitated internet access to the communities in Buea, Cameroon, ADCOME through its Executive Director, Mr Roland KWEMAIN saw the need of helping students who lack computer and internet access, to be connected. Initially, ADCOME carried this singly and is now joined by many partners such as the MTN Foundation of Cameroon, GlobalNet and IAI Cameroon as well as AIESEC Cameroon and JCI Cameroon. IAI trains computer engineers we recruit for the schools, MTN Foundation provides the Funds and GlobalNet provides the internet connection. |

| -School authorities have been sceptical about the feasibility of the project at the origin. It has been very difficult to convince them. -Schools had to contribute financially, but most schools were unable at the start. By then, we had no sponsors. |

| -We plan to get to all the ten provinces in the country and to see many more students benefit from the project. -we will need more partners who can sponsor us financially and hence subsidise the cost or donate equipments -we need more schools to to become intererested. |
